Freeze Dried Code Blue Mushrooms

Freeze dried Code Blue mushrooms are whole fruit mushrooms sold under the modern Code Blue cultivation name. Freeze drying removes frozen water under low pressure, producing an extremely dry and lightweight whole mushroom while retaining much of its physical structure.

Code Blue is a modern name used within psychedelic mushroom cultivation. However, unlike a formally described species or registered cultivar, the name does not currently correspond to one universally documented genetic pedigree.

The answer is not completely settled. One description attributed to Misc. Lab identifies Code Blue as involving Goldmember, described as Golden Teacher × Penis Envy, crossed with Psilocybe natalensis. However, other sources describe Code Blue as Melmac × Blue Meanie cubensis. Therefore, lineage may differ depending on the genetic source.

Some Code Blue lineages are described commercially as cubensis-derived, while another widely circulated pedigree includes Psilocybe natalensis. Consequently, I would not state that every mushroom carrying the Code Blue name represents a genetically identical P. cubensis strain.

Possibly. The Misc. Lab lineage account identifies Goldmember as Golden Teacher × Penis Envy before describing it as part of Code Blue's genetics. Other claimed Code Blue pedigrees involve Melmac, which itself belongs to the broader Penis Envy family. However, neither pedigree has been universally established.

Code Blue mushrooms are commonly shown with substantial pale stems and cream, tan or golden-brown caps. In addition, blue bruising may become pronounced after physical handling. Appearance can vary between phenotypes and genetic sources.

The name should not be interpreted as meaning the mushrooms naturally grow bright blue. Instead, psilocybin-containing mushroom tissue may develop blue coloration after physical damage. However, visible bruising intensity does not reliably measure potency.

Reported effects are consistent with those associated with psilocybin-containing mushrooms, including changes in visual perception, sensory processing, emotion, thought patterns and perception of time. However, controlled research has not established a Code-Blue-specific effect profile.

Code Blue has a reputation for substantial potency within cultivation communities. Nevertheless, there is insufficient controlled analytical evidence to assign the name a reliable potency range. Individual fruiting bodies and batches can vary considerably.

Traditional dehydration generally uses circulating air and sometimes additional heat. Freeze drying, by contrast, removes water while the material remains frozen. Consequently, the finished mushrooms usually retain more of their original physical dimensions and develop a lighter, crisp texture.

Freeze drying removes moisture, but that does not establish or guarantee a particular psilocybin concentration. Therefore, neither the drying method nor the appearance of a mushroom provides a reliable potency measurement.
